Music wire is the most common spring wire used today. It can be pre-plated or plated after forming. The plating could consist of Tin or Zinc (Galvanized). Cadmium is another plate but used more and more seldom due to environmental issues. 300 series Stainless Steel is another common material used for it’s corrosion resistance. Other materials used include 17-7 Stainless Steel, Phosphorous Bronze, Beryllium Copper, Hastelloy, and a host of others.
